NAPIER FISHERMEN.
INDUSTRY NOT PAYING. NAPIER. March. 20. The owners of the fishing fleet conferred with Mr P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, regarding the present agreement existing between them and the Napier Fishermen's Union, which will expire on Aoril 23. The award now in force is based on the wages and the shara system, but owing to the very bad season experienced, owners state that they aye making nothing out of their boats, and some new arrangement is desired by them. The position was discussed at length, and ultimately a committee was formed with the object of going into the question and drawing ud some scheme suitable to both parties, which, when arranged, will be presented to the union.
