INDUSTRIAL SCHOOLS ACT.
AN UNCONTROLLABLE GIRL. WELLINGTON, Mrch 16. The provisions of the Industrial Schools Amendment Act were brought into forca in Wellington for the first time to-day. The act empowers the police to bring any uncontrollable child before a magistrate to be committed to an industrial school. The present case was a girl, 14£ years of age, who had run away from home thrice. The mother stated that the girl was beyond her control. The girl was. committed to St. Joseph's Orphanage.
