HIGH SCHOOL BOARD OF GOVERNORS..

The mcnthlv meeting- of the High School Board of Governors was held on the 17th. The members in attendance were the Hon. J. R. Sinclair (chairman), Messrs .7. K. Walker (Mayor). Leslie Harris, T. K. Sidey, M.P., and the Rev. P. B. Fraser. The Chairman congratulated Messrs Walker and Sidey on their, re-election as members of the board. On the motion of Mr Sidey, seconded by Mr Walker, the Hon. J. R. Sinclair was unanimously re-elected chairman of the board. Members referred in a very complimentary manner to the time and attention which the chairman had given to the duties of his position in the past. Mr Leslie Harris was elected treasurer. On the motion of the Chairman, accounts and salaries for March amounting - to £1548 9s 3d were passed for payment. The bank book laid on the table showed the balances on 16th inst. to be: No. 1 working account, cr £354 lis 4d; No. 2 workingaccount, or £684 6s 6d; cash in hand, £6 15s 6d;—total, £1045 13s lid.

The Mayor of Reading has presented Phillip Martin with a Royal Humane Society's certificate for rescuing an old man, aged 90, from drowning in the River Kennett. Martin, though he cannot swim, has eaved 20 livee from drowning in the Kennett.
