OAMARU MAYORALTY.
(Fbom Oub Own Coeekspondent.) OAMAEU, March 2. Mr W. H. Paterson has signified his intention of contesting the mayoralty against Mr R. Milligan. Mr Paterson is prompted to this step by the reception of a generously-signed requisition, though in his manifesto to the electors he admits that his brief term of on© i year as a councillor hardly entitles him to the honour in preference to many more experienced councillors. The contest will be an interesting one, particularly as Mr Milligan's defeat would involve the loss of his,, seat on the Harbour Board t of has just been re-elected chairman.
