Acknowledged with thanks from the secretary copy of tho programme of the Clyde Sports Club, issued in connection with the to be held at Clyde on Easter Monday, March 28. There are no fewer than 24 events set down for decision, chief of which are 100 Yards Handicap. 75 Yards Handicap, 150 Yards Goldfields Handicap, 220 Yards Handicap, and One and Two-mile Bicycle Race. Morris, ex-professional champion sprinfc runner of the Dominion, is now in constant training, and will be a competitor in the championship and handicap races at the New Zealand championship meeting to be held at Greymouth on March 16. . Morris did not compete at last years' meeting at Du-hedin, but in 1908 he won the sp-infc championships at New Plymouth, and in 1907 he captured the principal championand the £SO Sheffield Handicap afc the Christchurch Exhibition. OTAGO CENTRE, N.Z. ATHLETIC UNIpN.

The monthly meeting of the Otago Centre, N.Z. Athletic Union, was held on the Ist., there being present—Messrs C. E. Keast (chairman), J. Lsdgerwood, P. Brady, A. Campbell, D. Duncan, A. G-. Fenwick. and D. F. M'Kay (secretary). The Chairman reported that permission had been granted for the holding of evening sports at Middlemarch on February 19, and for St. David's sports, Cambrian, on March- 1. Application had also been received for a permit to hold St. Patrick sportp at St. Bathans on March 17 Approved. In reference to the sports meeting proposed to be held shortly by the Opbir Club, it was resolved that in the evenfe of the Ophir Club not becoming affiliated the secretary take the necessary precautions to warn intending competitors thai the meeting was unregistered, and thai those competing would be disqualified. In reference to correspondence in connection with the Beaumont Club and Mb Cook's complaint, a telegram was received from the Beaumont Club intimating thai? an amicable settlement was being made with Mr Cook. —Received. Messrs C. E. Keasfc and A. G. Fenwicfc ■were appointed: delegates to attend the forthcoming conference at Greymouth on March 16. The Chairman expressed the opinion that the conference at Greymoutb was likely to prove one of the most important ever held, particularly in view of the fact that the union would consider ,i proposition to take_ over control of cycling meetings—a step which should be cordially supported.

A lengthy list of remits for consideration at the conference was considered. The delegates wene instructed not to support remits from the North Canterbury Centre to the effect that the N.Z. Council should consist of officials all resident in one city, and that the seat of the council should be Chnstchurch. The delegates were further instructed to support the proposal that the umon should take over the control of cycle races in the Dominion; to oppose the Taranaki Centre's remit to the effect that the union should take over full control of Hignland events; to support Hawke's Bay. Centre s remit to the effect that a competitor found "to have connived at the ringing in,' or doing of any aoiion which would render the competitors liable to disqualification, shall himself be also liab'.a to a similar term of disqualification." Mr D. Duncan was appointed to represent the centre at the Cromwell and Clyde sports meetings on March 26 and March--28, to be associated with Mr Stevens at Cromwell and Mr Varcoe at Clyde. Mr Lsdgerwood was appointed to represent the centre at the Blueskin meeting on March 28.
