BURGLARIES IN WELLINGTON.
TWO YOUTHS ARRESTED. WELLINGTON, January 21. A sensational arrest was effected to-day by Detective Oa&sells and Constable Pearce. For some time the police have been receiving complaints concerning burglaries in the city and suburbs. On Wednnday Detective Cassells, who was in charge of the investigation, and Constable Pearce, of Brooklyn, went to Makara Hitls, where, in a dilapidated and uninhabited vvhare, they found a swag containing much of the stolen goods. They remained there all night waiting for the occupants, but were disappointed. They spoke to some of the residents from whom they had had information, with the resu't that this morning they received a telephone message thai two men were acting in a suspicions manner near the hut. They hurried out, but the men were not about, and they were told that they had been sitting under the brow of a hill, watching some wood splitters. The police found them thorn, and crept up behind therm, and had the " bracelets " on them before they knew what had happened them. Each of them was armed with a five-chambered revolver, fully loaded. They are both youths, and are named Maurice Edward Pointon and " Edward Haughey. alias Kelly. About 14 charges of burglary alleged to ha-# been, committed between January 2 and 17 will be brought against them.
