PLOT AGAINST KING MANUEL
LISBON, January 11. The Imparcial states that a Republican plot against King Manuel has been, discovered, and that 40 arrests have been mads. Last night the sentries who are guarding the entrances to the palace fired several shots at suspects. There is much excitement in the capital. January 12. It is semi-officiaily announced that the Government has discovered secret revolutionary societies in many of the large centres. Firearms, explosives, daggers, and masks have been seized. It is known that the movement is directed against the monarchy. Four of the ringleaders have been arrested.
