Male Debutants and their "Coming Out."
“A gentleman debutant” is the latest innovation in Chicago society. America has long been famous for the lavish expenditure of its parents in celebrating the coming out of their daughters. In future, if the example set by Chicago is followed, sons will have debuts as well as daughters. The honour , of inventing this, startling departure in the world of fashion belongs to Mrs William Rodiger, a wealthy hostess of the windy city, who has issued
her eon Walter. The young man, who has just graduated at Yale, and whose vulnerability to Cupid’s arrows all the maidens of Chicago are eagerly canvassing, will make his bow to society as a full-fledged, eligible young man. on December 16.
The matrons of Chicago have enthusiastically endorsed Mrs Rodiger’s innovation as “perfectly delightful,” and are planning similar functions to take place early in the New Year. The invitations to these male debuts are printed on dainty cards superscribed with the names of the parents above that of the debutant.
