The Karamca, from England, via New Zealand ports, arrived at 7.50 on the evening of the 16th inst., and p berthed at the Victoria wharf, just astern of the Aparima. The Ka.ramea is a single-screw steamer, and is considered a little slow in comparison with some of the new mail steamers, but notwithstanding she is extremely popular with those to whom rapid transit is not essential. The last time the Karamea was at Dunedin was 14 months ago, on which occasion she brought 200 passengers from Plymouth, Since then she has been to the River Plate, On this voyage she left Liverpool on October 30, and experienced what seamen term “moderate” gales before entering th< trades. After doubling the Cepe very heavy weather was met with—snow, hail, and the thermometer sometimes below 32deg. A bright lookout was kept near Hog Island and the Apostles (north of the Crozets), but no sign was discovered of the Warateh. Captain Clifton-Mogg is in command. The other officers are Messrs A. R.
