NEW REGULATIONS. (Feom Ouk Own Coeeespondent.) WELLINGTON, January 14. Regulations regarding the labelling of gams appear in this week’s Gazette. ■Every package of jam, marmalade, or ■jelly for sale must he labelled so as to i ’show the contents and the name and ! address of the manufacturer. If the jam or marmalade is mixed the constituent ffuits must be named on fhe label, except where the compound does not contain more than 20 per cent, of ancle pulp. In such a case it will be-sufficient ; to print on the label, in type prescribed ,
in the regulation, the words, “ this is a mixed jam containing not more than 20 per cent, of apple.” Apple juice, or gooseberry juice, up to 10 per cent, may be added to jam without being mentioned on the labels. Fines for breaches of the regulations are not to exceed £2O.
