The North Island bowling tournament was finished this morning with an exciting pairs finish, fought out between two young men, the brothers Brackcnridge, and Messrs Lock and Geddes. The brothers, one of whom is a clerk in the Telegraph Department, eventually secured a well-de-served win by 24 to 21, but the result was in clouht till the last shot. _ The winners played some beautiful drawing shots, and gauged the’ strength of the green with remarkable accuracy. Mr Lock (who was formerly a South Island howler) drew and drove with great skill, but his “ lead was not quite up to championship form, and generally left him with much to do. On several occasions he saved the situation by brilliant driving shots. At the last head, after he had shifted the jack with his third drive, he had a chance to even up the score's, but young Brackenridge, with a remarkably accurate drawing shot, landed his bowl two or three inches from the jack on the very edge of the ditch, and thus placed the issue beyond all doubt. The winners were heartily congratulated.
