Many of the big South Island Caledonian New Year gatherings had adverse luck for their recent sports. The Southland (unregistered) meeting bad bad weather; Dunedin took some £SO less than at the championship meeting- last year; Oamaru’s gate receipts were about £6O less than last year’s, which was less t-bani the. previous year’s.
