THE CHEESE MARKET.
PROSPECT OF HIGHER PRICES. INVERCARGILL, January 13. Messrs Henderson and Company, who act as Southland agents for Messrs Weddel and Company, of London, received a cablegram on Monday stating :—“ It is reported that Canadian stocks of cheese are 5000 tons short of estimated quau-
tity and that cheese prices a,re likely to advance.”
During the past week there has oeen a, stir in the cheese market here, and several factories have sold the balance of their season’s output at sgd per lb f.o.b. Bluff. This is no doubt owing to come buyers having anticipated a rise in values. The bulk of the Southland factories are still consigning, and will ' doubtless reap the benefit of the improved conditions of the London market.
