NEW SOUTH WALES SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP. SYDNEY, January 16. The 220 yards, swimming championship of New South Wales was won by Healy, who defeated Hardwicke by three yards, Time, 2min 29 4-ssec. Wickham won the diving championship, and East Sydney annexed the 500 yards teams’ race.

AMATEUR ROWING ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, January 17. The Council of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association met to-night. The Mercer Rowing. Club was granted affiliation. The action of the Auckland Rowing Association in removing from the membership roll the name of a man who took part in’ the Foxton professional handicap under an assumed name was approved. In order to prevent a recurrence at the championship regatta at Picton of what took place, on New Year’s Day, it was decided to draw the attention of the Marlborough Association to rule 16, which provides that all championship events must be rowed in smooth water.
