ALLEGED GAMING HOUSE.
RAID IN WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, January 14. A somewhat .sensational raid was mad* upon two Chinese houses in Haining street to-night. A new ruse was adopted by the police to detect the alleged offenders —a posse of police driving through' the streets in a call to avoid the Chines© scouts, and then suddenly making a dash for two houses which had been marked. Wong Lee and Jim Yung were arrested and charged with being occupiers of premises used as gaming houses. They were admitted to bail of £IOO each. Nina Europeans and two Chinese found in the premises were arrested and charged with being found in a gaming house. They were admitted to bail of £5 each. The police seized a large number of pak-a-poo tickets.
