UNCHARTED ROCKS.
QUESTION OF COMPLETE SURVEY WELLINGTON. January 10. The Hon. J. A. Millar (Minister of Marine), speaking as to the advisability of a complete survey of the coast for uncharted rocks, said it was a question whether Parliament would authorise such a survey, which would take many years. At one' time it was thought that the Tufcanekai could be utilised, but that vessel was unsuitable. To properly equip a vessel with appliances meant an initial outlay of .040.000. He would suggest to his colleagues the desirability of asking Parliament to sanction another arrangement under which the work could be done by the Admiralty officers and equipment.
