The excise duty on beer manufactured during the month of September (just ended), the third quarter of the year, and the first nine months of the year compared respectively with the amount paid in the similar periods of last year are shown as follows: — 1909. 1908. September .. .. £ 153 12 0 £ 130 16 3 Third quarter .. 438 10 3 - 360 14 0 January to September . . . . 1317 1 9 1203 10> 0 'Expressed in gallons of beer consumed, the increases in each period respectively are : Month, 1823 gallons ; quarter, 622? gallons ; nine months, 9051 gallons.
