PROPOSED POLITICAL ACTION. .

Following is the report bearing on the proposed political action by the Farmers' Union,- which has been adopted by the Auckland Executive of the Union to be transmitted to the Dominion Executive: — 1. Branches of .the New Zealand Farmers' Union in each parliamentary electorate shall federate by electing delegates to represent the wishes of their branches in each electoral district, delegates of the federated branches to be termed an electoral council, and such council to have power to "frame its own by-laws consistent with the rules and platform of the New Zealand Farmers' Union. 2. Each electoral council shall report quarterly to the provincial secretary the number of road districts and branches within the electoral council's bounds, and where it is desirable to form additional branches. , 3. Each electoral council shall endeavc^ur to form new branches "in districts oF localities vrhete no branch exists. 4. Resolutions passed by the electoral council dealing with poitical subjects shall be forwarded to the member of Parliament for the district, and also to the provincial secretary of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, and the councils shall keep in touch with their representative in Parliament as far as possible. 5. Previous to the parliamentary election the council shall meet, and shall select the Farmers' Union candidate, and, having so ! selected him, every delegate shall work' on his committee until the elections are over. 6 The Provincial Executive shall fa«i-5-e power to call special meetings of the electoral couijci's when desirable to consider matters of gene/a! and public interest. 7. That it be a recommendation to the Provincial Executive to have subscription lL=ts printed and issued to all branches of the union in the province, and that branches be requested to place a list in the hands of each member, of the branch, with a view of obtaining donations from members' friends and others in sympathy with the union, such donations to be used by the executive as an organising fund, and "that a circular letter be issued with the lists to the chairman and secretary of every branch in the province. 8. That it be a recommendation to ihe executive that the electoral councils, when framing their by-laws, should make provision for branches to hold monthly meetings a.« near as possible at the same time, and about full moon, on account pj fchjp
