FRUIT MARKET.
Steady business on cuvrent prices has been done during the week. The arrivals have been on the small side, the next heavy consignment of goods being the Rarotongan shipment, d!ue here on October 11. A few otlld cases of oranges, which axe short, landed during the week and realised from 12s to 13s per case. * The detailed arrivals were : — The Moeraki, from Sydney, with 700 cases of oranges, mandarins, passions, and pines; the Manuka, from Melbourne and Hobart, with 600 oases of apples, lemons, pines, and oranges; and the Takuue and Tarawera with 160 cases of oranges, bananas, and kumaras. Prices rule as follows :r— Oranges. — Bairotongiaai : Market bare and no arrivals are due till -October 11 ; Sydney, 7s to 8s ; Seviltes, 5a to 6s. Mandarins. — Sydney: Choice packers, 8s 6d to 9a 6d; medium, 6s 6d; large gins up to 126 9d. Lemons.— Market barely supplied. South Australians, 12s Mildura, 12s to 14s ; Bydneys, 8s 6d to 9s 6d. Bananas. — Ripe Rarotongan, 2|d. Pines. — Choice Queensland (rough), 10s to 11s 9dl; Queens, 8s 6d to 12e. - Apples. — Choice cookers — Canterbury French Crab, 9s; Stunner Pippin, 8s to 10s 6d ; Hobart, choice Scarlets, 11s to 12s 6d ; Stunners, 7s 6d to 10s 6d; French Crabs, 9s to 10s«6d f Stone Pippins, 7s 6d to 9s 6d. Yeg^tobles.— Cabbages (scarce), 2s 6d to 3s 6d; cauliflowers, Is 7d to 5s per sack rhubarb— dhoice local Ud bo l±d, Oaatea:bury Id to lid ; lettuce up to Is per dos ; cucumbers, 12s to 14« per case.
