NEW TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
DANGER OF OVERLAPPING
PALMERSTON N., September 29,
The Technical School was opened to-day by the Hon. G. Fowlds, Minister of Education, in the presence of a large gathering of the public. The building has been provided by the subscriptions of the residents and Government subsidies, and all this hae been done within 15 months. It is the finest technical school building in the Dominion. The classes were recently scattered all over the town, and now number about 600 pupils. Mr Fowlds paid a tribute to the High School Cadets, who formed the guard of honour. He said the Technical Schools were givina; co much secondary education that the High .Schools and the Technical Schools should be more closely allied to avoid overlapping in- staffing and equipment.
No more animals are to be procured for the Wellington "Zoo." About £1000 has already been spent.
