Between 300 and 400 applications have already been received by the Wellington Land Board for the sections on the block of land to be thrown open for selection to retrenched civil servants and discharged railway bands. The block consists of 15,000 acres lying to the west ofthe railway between Raurimu and Piriaka on the Main Trunk line. Applications close on October 19, and the ballot will be held .on October 29.
