At th« Addington live stock market to-day there were fairly large entries of stock and a good attendance. Store sheep were in good demand Fsrt lambs sold at an all-round advance in prices, but fat sheep were easier. Fat cattle also met with weaker sale, as did also pigs, and store and dairy cattle sold well. There w*s a" increase in the entry of store sheep, and it included several lines of ewes and lambs, the balance being hoggets and a. few pens of w&thers. There was an improved demand, and a good clearance was effected at satisfactory rates, although not quite ecjual to prices ruling during the past fortnight. Medium to good wethers made 14s to 14s 9d, extra to 15s 6d, and small 12s 9d to 13s 6d, ewe hoggets 13s to 15s, wether hoggets 11s to 12s, smaller 9s 6d to 10s 6d, culls 7s upwards, and mixed sexes (good) 11s to 12s. Crossbred ewes of mixed ages, with lambs, made Bs, and aged sorts 5s 6d to 7s 6d, all counted. There was an entry of 100 fat lambs, mostly of nice quality. The total being about twothirds or that of last week, there was an all-round advance in prices. Best lambs sold at 16s to 19s 6d, and smaller at 13s 3d to 15s lid. The yarding of fat sheep was about equal to that of last week in point of numbers, but there was a considerable improvement in quality, there being a number of good lines of wethers and hoggets. Included in the entry were consignments from South Canterbury and Otago. The sale opened at rather lower prices than ruled la-st week, and was somewhat irregular throughout, and on the average heavy sheep were Is, and lighter Is 6d, per head lower in value. The range of prices was : Extra prime wethers to 2os, prime 18s to 22s 6d, lighter 15s to 17s 6d, prime ewes 17s to 21s 9d, others 14s to 16s, hoggets 13s 9d to 20s 3d, prime merino wethers 16s to 19s 9d, others 13s 6d to 15s. The yarding of fat cattle totalled 231, and was of avera-ge good quality. The sale was a dragging one all through, and prices showed a weaker tendency Stores made £7 5s to £11 12s 6d. heifers £5 17s 6d to £10, and cows £5 to £8 7s 6d — equal to 20s 6d to 22s 6d for prime, 183 6d to 20s for medium, and 16s 6d to 18s for cow and inferior beef per ]00lb. Veal calves sold at late rates, prices ranging from 4s 6d to 545, according to size and quality. There was a fairly large entry of store cattle, including consignments from Southland, and there was a good clearance at the following rates: Yearlings 38s 6d, 15 to 18-months 35s to 395, 2-year steers £3 to £3 15s, 2-year heifers £3 to £3 7s 6d, 2J-year steers £4 17s 6d. 3-year steers £5 2s 6d, 3-year heifers £4 18s, and dry cows 15s to £3 18s. Southland cattle made— For yearlings 33s 6d, 15 to 18-months £2 4s 6d fo £2 9s, 2J-year steers £4 7s 6d. 2J-year heifers £3 8s 6d, and 3-year steers £4 17s 6d. Dairy cows sold well, prices ranging from £3 to £9 2s 6d. There was a fair entry of pigs, and fats were easier, while the demand for stores waa good.
