ROWING.
GISBORNE, September 30. The rowing season opened to-day in fine weather. About 3000 spectators witnessed the ceremonies, the chief features of which, was an exhibition by the world's champion (R. Arnst) and a cutter race between teams from the Prometheus and the local freezing works, which the- sailors won.
