RETRENCHED CIVIL SERVANTS.

SETTLEMENTS PHOTIDED. WELLINGTON.. June 23. Three settlements for retrenched civil servants are being provided by the Government. Oivi is about eight mites from Kihikihi, or Kawa Railway Station, on the North IsUnd Main Trunk line. Another i? at Rdurimij, -tn.l the third at Owhanga, both on ihe Mala Trunk, south of Taumarunui. Applications for land are lo bo invited shortly from retii.ed civil servants, whose superannuation allowance does not evoaed £75 per annum, and the opportunity offered is such that, 'withia 12 months?, "the new settlers should be producing from thr>lr holdings. The Kihikihi settlement is reiched by a good, formed road, find on it there will be 13 r.mall farms v of from 160 to 180 acres of fe-rn or ti-tr'ee country, while at Raurimu and Owhanga. the settlements adjoin the main line, and are of bush country, subdivided into smaller arens than the Kihikihi settlement. Liberal advance* are to be made towards the erection of a house on each section, while the holder? will be given further advances up to £2 10s per acre for felling bush and grassing, or up to £2 per acre for clearing and grassing th© fern and ti-tree land.
