SOUTH TAIERI.

June '21. — During the past three weaks tho weather lias been very boistciouc, snow an-J sleet falling on several occasions, accompanied by high, cold winds. As a. consequence the reads, which are nometalled, are very heavy. A good deal of repairing has been done to our local roads lately. The Otokia-Mungatu? read hes had a second coat of metal, which is at present baing blinded with earth. In its present state, however, it is very rough and disagreeable to travel on. The main centre road has also bec-a graded and greatly improved, though the lower por-. tion still requires metalling. The last of the big contracts for repairing tha Taieri River embankment, which suffered greatly during the last big fiocd, will be comrcencad this we-sk by Mr B. Overton, of Henley. Owinsr to the present bank being situated too e!o-?e to the river, it has been decided' to ei-eet a now bank further in towards the plain, commencing at the B drain andi joining the old bank some 300 vaxds farther clown.

School Committee. — As a result of only four householders attending the annual meeting of lK>us°.hold< ) r3 the Education Board fixed Saturday la.= i a,s the date for holding another meeting of bondholders to elect a school committee.
