MARKET REPORT.

Messrs T. Buxtonand Ox, Tenvuka, report; — The local market for wheat during j tfte last -week' has- remained firm. . Sales I have been made of mixed lines at 3s 8d to ! 3s lOd, according to quality and proportion of velvet the lines contained ; the latter is particularly scarce. Farmers have a strong opinion of the future of the market, and, having stacked their wheat, arc -now asking. 4s, and show no signs^ of anxiety if they cannot g«t the money they ask, stating they are quite prepared to wait. Stooked threshed grain has now been mostly disposed of either by going into store or railed to mills. It is therefore anticipated there will be a considerable falling-off in offerings for a time. Oats are not offering in large quantities, possibly owing to very low prices ruling. Growers say they cannot lo«>e much, as at these prices the returns are so email, it takes a big purchase jto make a small cheque. Barley is very ! slow of sale, only the prime samples being ; accepted even at low rates. Potato crops ' are not likely to turn out as well as antij cipated a month or two ago, the blight ' having attacked many of the crops badly. The Derwents, being later, have suffered I worst, the tops being killed with the i blight before the tubers have had time to ; develop. A few TJp-to-Dates will be ready for digging this month. The end of this week t will ccc practically all grain in staoks or bags.
