BOOT MANUFACTURING TRADE.
THE NEW BODY. CHRISTCHURCH,. January 12. The conference of boot manufacturers from different parts of the Dominion, which has been sitting in this ciiy for the pa-t two days has resulted in the formation of one body to replace the three which have hitherto guarded the interests of the manufacturers. The official designation of the new body v the Boot Manufactureis' Federation of New Zealand. Some necessary formal resolutions have yet to be confirmed with reference to the assirniliation of the old bodies by the new association, and other details ha\e to' be fixed up. The officers are to be elected annually. The fhbt officers of the federa- , tion elected at the present conference are a^ follows: — President, Mr J. A. Fiostiek (Christchurch) ; vice-president and presi-dent-elect, Mr T. Hodgson (Auckland) ; secretaiy, Mr A. H. Bridger (Dunedin) ; tie-asurer, Mr William M'Kinley (Dunedin) ; Executive Committee — the president, vice-president, tieasurer, and Mr Jjmes Heinnah (Wellington). In the unavoidable absence of .Mr A. H. Bridger , (Dunedin) Mr T. Hodgson (Auckland) was appointed by the conference to record its proceeding. In the course of the proceedings the president made feeling reference to the deaths of «»\eral members of the federation, those members being Me.-.-is R. M'Kinlay (Duixdin), W. Stai>les (Wellington), and John Trenwith (Auckland). These he stated had been loyal supporters of the industry, and were men held in high esteem.
