THE DRAUGHT HO HORSE STUD BOOK.

PROPOSAL TO CLOSE. The Canterbury A. and P. Association has issued a circular letter to other A. and

P. associations seoking an opinion on a proposal to close the Draught Horse Stud Book after the fact had been fully advertised throughout New Zealand, and ample time given to those breeders who might •wish to register their purebred etook. It must be quite obvious (says the letter) that the book, as at present constituted and published, is not a stud book, but merely a register, and very incomplete at that. No doubt it was well known that the present- Draught Horse Stud Bopk was published under the auspices of the Canterbury Association, but in view of the fact that breeders of draught horses were scattered all over the Dominion, it might be more expedient -to form a draught horse association of New Zealand, independent of any association. The present idea of the Canterbury Association was, after the stud book is closed, to print all back numbers Into one complete volume, which would make a v-ery useful and valuable history for anyone breeding or otherwise interested in draught horses in this country. The matter came before the Timaru A. and P. Association, when it was resolved — "That this aesooiation is of opinion that it is desirable that a draught horse-breeders' association be formed as suggested by the Canterbury A. and P. Association, and that A. land P. associations throughout New Zealand be asked to support the move- j ment."
