FIRES.

AUCKLAND, January 13. A fire in Kenderbine and Kirkup's chemical factory ait Freeman's Bay damaged the buildings and- stock to the extent of several hundred pounds. The building was in.sured for £650 in the National office and £350 in the Ncithern office, and the stock for £ICOO in the Norwich Union. DARGAVILLE, January 13. About midnight a fire at Aoroa, near Dargaville, completely destroyed the local hall, a boardin^-housa occupied by Mr Thompson and owned by Mr Bradley, and a cottage occupied by Mr Lowe and owned by the Mitchelson Timber Company. To prevent the spread of the fire another cottage was demolished. The insurances are not yet available. The damage Js very considerable. WHANGAREI, January 15.
