LABOUR DISPUTE ENDED.
TROUBLE OVER SMOKING. HASTINGS.. January 14. The trouble threatened at Pakipaki is appaiently ended, for the men who knocked off yesterday returned to work this morning. The dispute was confined 1 to the fellmongers, who, under a new foreman, were not -allowed to emoke white* working. Their demand yesterday _ for " stnoke-oh " was refused, a.* unprovided for in the award, and at 3 o'clock theyknocked off work in batches of five. Particulars of the terms on which woik waa resumed are unavailable further than that the men in future are to be permitted to smoke while at work, or allowed aa interval for " smoke-oh."
