NEWFOUNDLAND FISHERIES
LONDON, January 18. Mr Kent, Attorney -general in Newfoundland, -will confer with Mr Elihu Root, Mr John Bryce (British Ambassador in America), and Mr Aylesworth (Canadian Minister of Justice) respecting the final draft of the Canadian-Newfound-land Coastal Fisheries Arbitration Treaty. It is stated that the Ameaicans are claiming heavy damages from Newfoundland for interference with an American vessel which was fishing on the treaty coast. Newfoundland opposes the inclusion of this as a subject for arbitration by Tin© Haigne Tribunal, but both parties have agreed to submit to The Hague th// question of the interpretation of th treaty of 1818.
