NEW ZEALAND DENTAL ASSOCIATION.
WELLINGTON, January 7. The annual conference of the New Zealand Dental Association ended^ to-day. There was a fair attendance ~from all pai'ts of Hie Dominion, there being about 60 dentists present. Tlie programme of the association iraa noL go technical as usual, and more time was devoted to subjects pertaining to the public welfare. A lecturette (with diagrams) has been compiled upon the necessity of taking care of the teeth. Tliis will be print-ed either at the expense of the association or of the Government, and, with the permission of the local school committees, will be read by a dentist, or, if that is impossible, by a teacher to the upper standards. 'The association hopes by awakening the public mind and* persistent petitioning to the Government? to eventually obtain State dentists andi dental ware's in ev«ry town. In tbs opinion of the association, the insidious efiects of neglect of the teeth shown by? s. great majority of the Dominion subjects are jx>t fully recognised by the geiwrai public. It will not be until the greatest care is takeji of the teeth froa» UJiSlicy to manhood that an improvement in the physique of New Zealanders can 03 expected. The technical j>art of the programme was of an advanced nature, and showed the vßJite of the interchange of ideas which rn'^ii uecessarily take place in a meeting of this kind. Altogether th« assttcaation is doinjg excellent work. It was arranged that the next conference should be held about Easter, 19io. 'Ihe followittg officers were elected-—^ President, Mr Frank Armstrong: vicepresid*nt t A/r 0. W. Hay; treasurer, Mr. Q. V. Pav-ies. professor Pickeiriil v to be asked U> J?i* ihfi s^cr^arvehip.
