have had for the mile nnd a-half race for several years. The monthly meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association was held on Wednesday ; — present, Messrs A. L. Myers (in the chair), C. S. Howell, E. Clarkson, J. H. Pollock, C. F. Mark, W. G. Garrard, W. Hayward, and R. O. Duncan. Messrs A. S. Clarkson and A. J. Tutton appeared as a deputation to again urge the claims of the recently formed North Canterbury Trotting Club for registration. After some discussion the application was refused. A. T. Lake appealed against the decision of the Wanganui Trotting Club in disqualifying him, together with *>is horse. Bob E.T. and J. T. Fairlie (rider) for 12 months, on the ground that the horse was not ridden out to win in the Farewell Handicap at the club's meeting on Deoember 12. A large quantity of correspondence and evidence was read, and it was decided to endorse tho action of the Wanganui Trotting Club in disqualifying the hoi'Be, its owner and rider. Th'i j appellant, A. T. Lake, was then called, and j made a statement, afier -which it was do- j cided to send a copy of his evidence to tl c Wanganui Trotting Club, and to adjourn further consideration of the case until next meeting. The action of the executive in removing the disqualification from persons and horses which had competed ai unregistered meetings was approved. Several other applications for the removal of disqualifications were aprreed to. The action of the New South Wales Trotting Club in disqualifying A. Giant and the horse Lyddite for six months for suspicious practices was endorsed. An application from I. Price for- assistance from the provident fund, 'on account of injuries received whi.e riding a horse at Plumpton Park. was referred to the Licensing , Committee, with power to apt. Licenses as recommended by the Licensing Committee were granted. The applications of Isabol . Button and John Butler were declined. The application of D. P. Maboney frr tn amateur license was refused, and that of Thomas Jones was held over. Progra twigs as passed by the executive were appro »ed. R. J.
