OTAGO LAND BOARD

A special meeting of the Otago Land Board was held on the sth inst., when there avere present — the Commissioner of Grown Lands (Mr D. Barron), and Messrs W. Dallas, J. Tough, and G-. Livingstone. Tho •commiseionens appointed to classify the pastoral runs, the licenses of which will shortly pxpire, presented their report, wliich was adopted and forwarded to the Minister in Margaret Ballingall applied for an area ten the Barewood run, adjoindng her present holding. — The commissioner and Messrs Toug\h and Livmg&tonie to visit the locality next week and report. Jemee Roberts, lessee of section 2a, block HI, Su-tton district, wrote suggesting that the present dividing fence between his land Bind the Barewood run be made a true boundary in the future. — The commissioner sand Messrs Tough and Eivingstone to visit t3» locality next week and report. A letter was received from R. S. English, on behalf of himself and some others, applying for a reserve on the Barewocd runs to enable the applicants to graze a oow or horse. — It was decidied to inform them that such a reserve had already been laid off. James Garreitt wrote asking that local iresidenits at Barewood should be allowed to ballot for certain areas eet apart for them alone. — To be informed that an opportunity would be afforded them of obtaining small holdings in the reserve above noted. William Wade applied for 200 acres in block XJI, Tarras district, part of Morven Hills Run. Roderick Poison also applied for an area at Lind's River, on the same rum. — Applications held over pending 6urvey of the land in the run, which is not dealt with as pastoral country. William James Muidrew, jun., A. H. Brifcton, John Mahoney, and Charle* Mulvaney applied for preference rights for allotments in the Kauroo Hillfi Estate, un-.i-er section 53 of " The Land for Settlements Act, 1908." — 3Jr Britten's application was approved, the remainder declined. Ranigor O'Nedll was appointed arbitrator to value the improvements on runs 200 d and 200e, Ormaglade, the license over which .will expire on the 28th February next. Ranger O'Neill reported that Daniel John Wheeler was not complying with the residence condition of his leaie in perpetuity over section 1, block VIII, St. Bathans district. — To be asked to show cause within one month why lease shoulc 1 not be forfeited ■for non-compliance with residential condition. Ranger O'Neill forwarded a report on small grazing runs at Blackstone Hill, and suggested that the following, who had not corn-plied with residence conditions of their leases, be called upon to show cause why their leases should not be forfeited: — Annie M'Knight, run, 224z; Frederick G. M'Knight, run 224y; William M'Connochie, run 226 a. — To show cause within one month why lessees do not comply with the residential conditions of their leases. Ranger O'Neill reported on Messrs Nevill and Macdonald's application for relief on account of losses sustained through snowstorm on run 227 c— Report received, and lessees to be informed that the board was mot in a position to make any recommendation in the meantime. ,_ Ranger O'Neill reported that R. A. J. Harrex was not coniphing with the residence condition of his occupation lease over section 10, block V. Blackstone district.— To bo required to show cause why his lease should* not be forfeited for his non-compli-ance with residential condition. Ranger O'Neill reported upon fence between Jamas Ross's and C. Reid's properties in block 111, Tuapaka \Ve3t district. — As Mr Ross had not complied with the condition for fencing his licanse was declared lapsed. S. E. P. Vernon applied to surrender his occupation, lease over section 120. block 11. Teviot district, in order thar a corrected lease, mi-jjht ba issuc-d. — Surrender accepted, lease to issue to him over seotioii? 114 and 120. The Warden reported that there was no objection, from a mining' point of view, (o sections 18 to 21, block VI. Rock and Pillar district, being opened under renewable lease. — Received. L. Ryan forwarded an application by Alfred \V. Marshall for an occupation lease over 12 acres in Fraser district.—Application to be advertised and referred to warden for report. Alexander F. Ridd applied for a grazing license over about threo acres fronting section 60, block 111. Benger district (R. Cock•burn, agsnt). — Yearly license granted ; rent. 5s per annum. Edward V.
