Tho beef market is quiet, but steady. Current quotations : Hindquarters, 3£d; forequarters, 3d. The butter market is firm, with more inquiry. The stock of New Zealand butter i% almost exhausted. Prices are nominal. Buyers are anxious to ascertain as soon as possible the condition of the Paparoa shipment. Quotations: Choicest New Zealand, 114s; Australian, 109s; Danish, 11'ds ; Siberian 103s per cwt. The cheese market is firm. The supply of New Zealand makes the running short, a.nd it is quoted nominally at 60s for white and 61s for coloured per cwt. 'f'hs hemp market is quiet, and small business is doing. Current ■ quotations: Good fair grade, on spot. £25 ; fair grade, on spot, £23; fair current Manila, on spot.> £24 lOe; January to March shipments — good fair grade £24 10s, fair g?rade £23 10s, fair current Manila £24 10s.
