Januan 6. — The summer so far has nc: been a repetition of the two previous ones During the month of December rain fell on 15 days, with a total rainfall of 4.33 in. The highest fall was 0.99 in, on the 15th. The total rainfall for die year 1908 was 35,565 in, as againit 25,53 in for 1907. The rains of the past few wee&a have done a great deal of good to the root crops, and they are in consequence looking exceedingly well. Hay, however, is suffering, and quite a number of psop.e have been caught in the middle of getting it ready for stacking.
