BERWICK.

January 9.— The thirty-first annual gathering of the Berwick Caledonian Society was held in the Domain on New Year's Day, and, as was expected, proved a \ery great success. The running- and tv^estling were exceptionally good, <uid all events were keenly contested. The day was all that could be desired. The Outrun Brass Band was in attendance, and uiayed a large number of selections during the day, which added most materially to the enjoyment of all present. Mr B. Parsons and Mr Thomas Matheson also gave a number of selections on the bagpipes. Messrs Munro and MKay kept the refreshment booth, and appeared to do a ■ lively business during the day.
