COMMERCIAL TR AVELLERS' ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the_ New Zealand Commercial Travellers and \> arehousemen's Association was held in the Club Rooms, Dowling street, on Saturday evening. There was a very large attendance of members, over which the association president (Mr F. H. King) presided. The Secretary announced that seasonable I greetings had been received by cable from Messrs Davis (general secretary of the Australasian Association), Searle (the newlyelected president of the Victorian Association), Wallace (president of the Taamanian. Association), and Wallace (president of th 6 j New South Wales Association). Messrs | Thomas Watt and R. Hudson apologised for absence. The Chairman said he was sure they were all very gratified with the progress made- | by the association during the past year. J They had had a more satisfactory year , than in 1907, which was a record, making i 1908 a record for the association since its I inception. They would notice that, as regards the mortuary benefit fund, they had j increased the dividend by £5, and as thd years went on this would be materially increased. In this connection he wished to . reiterate the remarks he had made last I year : that it was inconceivable that business men eligible for this fund could stand I aloof. The immeasurable benefits to b» i gained were out of all proportion to the I small sum they asked as a subscription. In regard to the club, its affairs had gone on veifv satisfactorily during the year. They hacf endeavoured to promote the welfare and happiness of those who belonged to tho association, and he was sure they provided excellent value for the small sum asked as subscription. During his term of office as ! president no question of burning iraportI ance had come up w ith the exception of onej which would be dealt with later on — he rei f erred to the proposed federation of th« | New Zealand associations.
