• CONFEEE2v T CE AT AUCKLAND. 1 AUCKLAND, December 29. ! A conference of representatives of the past students of the three Auckland Maori secondary schools (Three Kings College, St. Stephen's School for Boy 6. and the Victoiia School for Girls) was opened today, the primary object being the formation of an association on the lines oi the Te Aute Association. Rev. J. H. Simmonds (principal of Three Kings College) presided. It was decided) to form an association, to be called " The Young Maori Party, Northern JBrant^i." Ther« was a good attendance, and much interest , was manifested in the proceedings.
I Xieon CSasse, the official viper-killer in the Forest of Fontainebleau, has killed nearly 700 snakes during the^ last season. His average is 800 a year, and^ he has been bitten so often that lie lias become immune to the poison, of the snakes' bite. He is known as " Faithiea: of the Vipers."
