ANNUAL CONVENTION

WELLINGTON January 4. • The fifth annual convention of the New Zealand Dental Association was opened to-day at Parliament Building?. Mr j Arthur rTobbey, L.D.S., president of the i association, occupied the chair. An item of public interest in the annual report and balance sheet, which 1 were adopted, was the outline of a ! scheme dra-u a up by Messrs S. Keane, Dixon, and Carter, of Auckland, for elementary lectured to be handed over to the Education Department for introduction into the schools of the Dominion. Publication of the details is withheld pend1 ing the result of the full discussion by the 1 conference. The importanae of the question was leeognised by delegates present \ us affecting national development. It was i [ acknowledged that the dental profession j j was the proper souiee of proposals for j ( reforms in the direction of ensuring the proper treatment of children's teeth. The opinion was expressed that fi similar ! scheme in use in the German schools, and - forming an important iteai in the cam- j ' culum, justified steps bein<r taken in New | Zealand to combat the evil.
