PObTOBttLLO ROAD BOARD,
The monthly meeting of the Portobelloi Road Beard was held on Dec. 31, when, there were present: Messrs J«us. Dickisoru (chairman), Fulton, Wright, Hellyer, Bxtrt, Macandr-ew, and Seaton. Tenders were due for 2J-inch m«tal from Mr H. Seaton's quairy. Only ono tender •was received — that of Mr J. G. Clearwater, at 4s per yard. Tenders were also due for the sea wall on the Beach road. Two tenders were received, and Mr Allan Johnston's being the lowest (£75), was accepted l . Mr Raynbird wrote complaining of the surfacemen cutting away the entrance to hi 3 property In Broad Bay. — The clerk to inform Mt Raynbird that the work done by fhe board was necessary, but the board had no intention of obstructing the entrance - to his property. The Otago Heads Road 1 Board forwarded a cheque for £20, being its part of the amount to be paid to Mrs Garrick, in taking a new road through her property under the Public Works Act. — Received, the money •to ba paid over, together with the board's portion, to the claimant. Mr D. Young wrote asking the board's permission to connect the new road he ia making to lu9 property in Scarborough, with) the Beach road. — Request granted. The committee appointed to open th« fenders for the formation of the new road through Mara Wilson's property reported' thatf only one tender was received— that of Mp Robert Seaton, and, being reasonable, it .was accepted. ft was then resolved to call for tenders for 200 cubic yards of 24-inch metal for thesame road, tenders to be in by January 14. The Inspector's report was adopted with slight alterations.
