PENISULA ROAD BOARD.
The adjourned meeting of the Penmen]* Road Board, held on the 9th, was attended by Messrs M'Curdy (chairman), Bnnrton, Black, GaTr, and Riddell. On the motion of the Chairman, seconded: by Mr Black, the board unanimousJy passed i resolution expressing the board's appreciation of the the valuable services rendered to the district by Mr E. G. Allen daring hia term in Parliament as representative of the iisjrict. The members for Sandymount Sxibdivision eported that certain improvements required :o be done on the Main road at Macgregor's tTi-H- — It was decided to invite tenders for a mtting and filling in; also tenders for 100 *ard» of 2£-inch metal, to be quarried and sroken in Shaw's qiiarry. * I-fc was 'decided tliat tho necessary steps >c taken to recover a?l rates and dog tax lot paid on or before December 31. Accounts were pa?<^d for payment to th« amount of £33 15s id. The postal note office at Toka-rahi has Deen closed. Telephone bureaux are gazetted as leaving been opened at Ko-wha-tu, Tangatamcrmona, Wharua, and Mauugatuo, all in the Oamaru district
