WELLINGTON WING WHISPERS

By Peter Pan.

December 11. Dear Pasquin, — Our big Christmas attraction will bo Williamson's Dramatic Company, headed by George Titheradge, Henry Kolkei-, and Miss Ola Jane Humphry. This is the same combination as supported MarsraTet Anglin (the talented American actress whom we were led to believe would tour Nen Zealand) in Australia. The company opens on Boxing Night. West's Pictures will also play Christmas dates at the Town Hall. Florence Baines. the laughing- Lancashire lady, opened at the Theatre Ro.yal on Monday, and, by appearances, has captured Wellington playgoers. It looks as if packed houses would rule all the season. The popular concert giyon by The King's Trumpeter and the Wellington Professional Orchestra on Wednesday night was not largely attended. The people have been surfeited with musical entertainments lately. The Cherniaviski Trio— Leo, Jan, and Mischel — gave their first recital in the Town Hall last night, and quite captured the audience in the concert chamber of i the Town Hall. Mischel, the midget 'cello ! player, was quite lionised by the audience. Miss Marie Hooton, \vh*o was here with the Westminster Glee Party, and Mr Driver contributed vocal numbers. The towne on the Main Trunk line are having their cull of chows. Last week, in Hunterville, the Hellers appeared on the Saturday, O'Neil's Buckjumpers on Monday, Cooper's Bioscope on Tuesday, Fred Foley on Wednesday, with '"Richards" Variety Company to follow. Ir Mangaweka on three different nights there were three different shows, while further along the line Taylor-Carrington, Bryant's Pictures and Entertainers, Kershaw's Pictures, and Coleman's Biograph. They all report "business jrood !" In one town on the Main Trunk the owners of the hall refused to let it on Boxing Night, becauso "it interfered with the business of the town!" To show the popularity of the moving picture anj xhe number of "bio." shows on the roaf', a local film supplier tells me he is hard put to accommodate jil tho orders he i eecives, and consequently r>as had to tu.nble his orders to the film im'ken--. Surely will we hear a dull thud picsently?
