DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE.

Busineo3 on the Exchange has been much •us usual during the past week, and there is nothing of a sensational character to report either in investments or in mining. Bank of New Zealand are now ex-dividend, and are quoted at bu\ers £8 Bs, and sellers £8 12s. National Banks are also firmer. , t with but few shares offering. National In- > ' surance changed hands during the week at £1 76 9d. New Zealand Insurance have been steadily improving, and have buyers somewhere in the vicinity of £3 15s. There is very little alteration in the price of Standards, and more sellers than buyois are quoting. Union Steams are wanted at £1 14s 3d. Westports are not in demand, and sellers are easier. National Mortgage were offered at £3 le throughout the week without disclosing buyers. There are rollers of the "big" and "small" issues of Milburn Limes at £1 11s and 15s respectively, but no buyei-3. Mosgiel Woollens are offered at £2 IBs, also without inquiry. A sale of New Zealand Drugs was reported at £2 9s. The directors of the Portland Cement Company met during the week, but so far there have been no disclosures as to the result of the meeting. The preference- issue of Oamaru Woollens ■were offered at £1 5a 3d (cum dividend) yesterday, with a buyer at le les3. In -mining stocks Talismans have fluctuated slightly. News of the return for the month of November caused the shared to firm to £2 3s, but they are again slightly easier. Grand Junctions have eased, and ■ there were sales on Thursday at £1 7s 6d. The easement is probably due to the fact that erosscutting will not be commenced from the chamber until the Wai-hi Com- p pany taps the Empire lode with their low-

level crosscut, which will relieve the Grand Junction of a considerable amount of pumping. Waihis firmed after the payment of the dividend, and are now quoted at £8 15s and £8 18s f»r buyers and sellers respectively. A sale in Welcome Quartz was reported at 4s premium, and the 6tock was yesterday quoted at buyers 3s 9d premium, sellers 10s premium, but very little has been done in the mine as yet to justify such prices. In dredging stocks the quotations for Alexandra Eurekas have scarcely altered. A dividend of 6d was declared, and buyers are now asking 3s, with sellers at about 4s. Quotations for Chicagos showed a difference of about 2a. Buyers and sellers still differ widely in their opinions regarding the value of Electrics, and no business was done. Golden Beds are distinctly easier. A parcel changed hands at 7s 6d, and there are further sellers at that price. Lady Roxburgh shares are also easier, and are offered at 4s. There has been no inquiry for Ma6tertons for some time past. Sellers are quoting £2 18s. Only 6d divides buyers and sellers of Manuherikias, and it seems: unnecessary that such a small .amount should continue to be a bar to business. Quotations for Mystery Flwte are wide, being about £1 15s and £1 18 a9d je&pectively. This dredge continues to give excellent average returns. Muddy Creeks were sold during the week at £1 175., which may be considered a,, good price. No Town Creeks were offered at 13s 6d, with buyers at several shillings less.
