CONCEALMENT OF BIRTH.
A GIRL ARRESTED. INVERCARGILL, December 3. •Bridget Duggan, of South Hillend, aged 18, has been arrested on a charge of her infant child, the body of Which was found on the roadside. The .feedical evidence attributed death to an injury to the head. The accused was remanded till the 10th. December 4. At the Police Court to-day Bridget Duggan, a, girl of 18. who had been arrested in connection with the finding of a dead baby near Wrey'6 Bush on Sunday last, pleaded "Guilty" to a charge of concealment of birth, and was committed fox sentence. The police explained that the girl told her story very •trafghtforwardly. She stated that the child fell, and she was too weak to pick tt up at first, aad when ehe did lift it
it was dead. She afterwards concealed the body. The medical evidence was to tlie effect that the fall described by the accused was consistent with the injuries found on the body. The charge was therefore reduced to one of concealment of birth.
