Subscribes, Waimate.— lt- is difficult to < say exactly how much grain — wheat, oats, [ i or barley — it takes to make lib to the < weight of a pig weighing 751b to lOOib to start with, because so much depends on , ; the breeding' and fattening capabilities of ' the animal. In pig-breeding- it should not i be the aim to bring the animal to maturity ; at the earliest possible time, but rather , to make the animal grow so as t" produce ; the largest number of pounds of pork 1 from the smallest number of pounds of ■ feed. This cannot be done with a system. < of feeding that- brings animals to maturity , at too early an age. It is always con- ( sidored an advantage and profitable to crush the grain and boil it before feed- '■ ing. '
