The horse is getting ovei the lameness, but the hock is still swollen. The cut should have been stitched at the time, but it was left too long. Th e flesh that came out of the cut has formed a hard, fleshy lump nearly the size of a hen's egg. J have been putting bluestone on it to try to eat it dojvn, but it does not get smaller."— — Answer: It would be better to allow the wound to thoroughly heal up. Afterwards you might blister, or paint a, little tincture" of iodine over the swelling once p day. Subscriber to Witness. — Not having the advantage of "examining youi mare, it is difficult to prescribe a successful cure. You might try a dos c of ra.w linseed oil, with an ounce of tincture of opium. At the same time, rub the lower part of the I abdomen with embrocation, repeating the I treatment if necessary. I Ardgowan writes : " I have noticed that one _ of the forelegs of a foal three weeks old is getting crooked. It has not travelled any gr«at distance. When the rn£re goes to the water she has rather a steep pinch to c.imb. Do you think that would cause the trouble? After the- foal was born it lost a good d-eal of blood from the navel cord, and was weak for a day ox two." Answer: As your fcal is very young, it mi; "it be wise to leave the matter to Nature ir the meantime. The leg will likely straighten up without any medicinal treatment, notwithstanding the steep pinch you mention.
