ADDINGTON" STOCK MARKET.

CHRISTCHURCH, December 2. At the Aldington live stock market to-day there were good entries of .stock and a fair attendance. F»t cattle were easier. Store sheep sold at about last week's rates. Fax lambs were not up to last week's level of prices, and pigs sold without much change. There- was a somewhat larger entry than last week, and all classes were represented in the entries. There was a good demand right through the sale, and a satisfactory clearance was effected at rates fully equal to those oi the previous sale. Stor« Sheep. — Some lines of forrrara brought 13s, shorn two-tooths, mixed sexe3, changed hands at 10s 6d to 12s, and a line of very good four-tooth ewes, with lambs, 133 4d. Shorn four, six, and eight-tooth ewes with 100 per cent, of lambs made 9s 9d, aged ewes with lambs 6s 9d, all counted! in each case. A few cull two-tooth shorn wethers brought 6s 2d. There was a rather larger entry of fat lambs than last week, mostly of good to prime quality. Competition was again confined to the butchers, and with the larger supply there was not the same briskness in the bidding, and prices were much easier. Best lambs made 15s to 17s 6d, one pen to 18s Sd, and lighter 103 6d to 14s 6d. There was a fairly Jarge yarding of fat sheep, the bulk being in good to prime condition. There being less keen competition among the butchers, prices fell about Is per head. Some business was done for export by speculative buyers, and this kept the market from going lower. The range of prices was: Woolly wethers, 19s 8d to 22s 3d; beet shorn wethers, 15s to 18s 6d; lighter, 13s to 14s 6d; best shorn ewes, 14s to 16s; medium, 12s 6d to 13s 6d ; others, lls to 12s; shorn merino wethers, lls 6d to 13s 3d.

There was a large yarding of store cattle, and the quality was much above the average, the entries including some good lines of three-year-old steers. Ihere was a good sale, 3 r earlings making 30a. to 40s ; two-year steers, £3 ss; two-year heifeis. £2 17s 6d ; two and a-half-year steers, £4 10s to £5; three-year steers, £5 10s to £5 12s. 6d; three and a-half year steers, £7 10s; three-year heifers, £i 10s; and dry cows, 35s to £4. 10s. Dany cows were dull of sale, at £3 17s 6d to £8 ss.

The supply of beef comprised 332 head, including a fair proportion of prime handy weights, but no large bullocks. The competition was slacker than at the previous sale, owing to there now being a greater demand at this season for lamb, and values for all classes showed a decline of about Is per 1001b. The range of prices was : Steer 3, £6 5s to £9 17s GU; heifers, £5 to £8 16s, and cows £4 15s to £7 12s 6d— equal to 24s to 26s Gd, mectiuni 20s 6d "to 23s 6d, and) cow and inferior 18s to 20s per I'JOTb There was a good yarding of pigs, and bacoiers sold at last week's rates, while porkers were easier Choppers sold up to £3, heavy baconers 57s to G7s 6d, and lighter 47s 6d to 55s — equal to sjd to 5Jd per lb; porkers 35s to 43s — equal to sjsd per lb; large stores, 32s to 43s 6d; meduim, 28s to 31s; large baconers, 18s to 225; and smaller, 13s to 16s.
