ALEXANDRA.
December 3. — Still apothei factor has been reached from an irrigation point of - iew in the trial of the new pumping plant tently installed on the Alexandra Lead ' aim by Mr F. W. Payne, consulting io-ineer. A minor alteration is being -tended to, and when this is completed a public trial will be given of the plant. Mr R. Soott, recently eleoted M.P. foi Tuapeka, informs me that he will be present at fche demonstration. ' v Concerning politics, people in this district have again' reached their normal condition of sanity after a longer period of electioneering than has been experienced for many jeaxs pas*. However, the majority appear satisfied with the result, and they have every reason to be so, seeing that Mr Scott is a Desident of the electorate, and from personal knowledge of the new member I have very reason to predict that Mr Scott will prove a valuable energetic, and conscientious member, having the interests of the electorate foremost in his mind.
