NEW ZEALAND PRODUCE IN LONDON.

(Eaoir Ottr Ovtx Correstohdkst.) LONDON, September 18. BTJTTEB. Messrs Weddel and Co. report that there have been no arrivals of butter from AusI tralia or New Zealand this week, and with only 188 boxes from Australia last week the only eales made must hare been exetocks held in store. The shipments this week from Australia, however, show a | slight increase over last week, 3100, boxes being shipped, against 2250 the previous " week. No shipments are recorded from New Zealand. No quotations of Aus- | traliart or New Zealand butter are -#iven, but Messrs Weddel mention that Canadian has met with a very slow sale at from H6s to 117s* for salted; while, on account of a better demand being experienced for saltless, 117s to 118s per cwt was made. The first arrival of Argentine came to hand last week, and amounted to 350ewt, for which 114s to 116s for salted and 117s to 118s for ealtless .was made. The Danish has advanced its quotation by four krorier. The arrivals of cheese during the week from Canada show an increase of 11,632cwt over last week, prices remaining steady at last ■» eek's quotations. The Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company (Ltd.) states that the trade during the past week has shown no sign of improvement, and values for most classes of meat have been maintained with difficulty. Although the pitchings at Smithfield are still short of the usual quantity, there is freauen.tly much meat left over from day to day. North American chilled v boef of good quality is very ecaroa, and is making 6d per lb, 'and even more in some cases, but the average value is from sgd" to sld per lb for hindquarters, while fores are worth 3id to 4d per lb. The supply of South American chilled is ample for present requirements, and, while the quality is good, ,it is not equal to some of the*" shipments which were marketed a thort time ago. To-day's values are- about the same as Jast week —viz., 4id to 4Jd per lb for hinds' and 3gd to .3£d per lb for forequarters. Ranch beef is being marketed in fairly large quantities, the supply being rather in excess of the demand. Home-grown I>^ is going steadily into consumption -at late rates; values are, however, maintained with difficulty. English and Scotch mutton is in fair supply, but the demand is very slow. Dutch mutton, which is a great is very plentiful and the quality mixed, and in consequence there is a very wide lango in values. The prime quality is making up to 5Jd per lb, while as low as 4id per lb has been touched for the inferior. New Zealand Mutton. —No fresh shipments have come to hand during the week, and there is -no improvement to report in valv.ee. Canterburys are a little more in evidence and arc being sold at 4d to 4Jd per lb. There is, however, a plentiful supply of North Island mutton, which is selling at last week's" rates, and unless there is an improvement in the demand there is a feeling that prices will «o lower/ especially for the heavy grades. South American Mutton. —Th"c arrivals consist of the following: —Highland Soot, 24,000 carcases; La Blanca, 41,000 carcases; and the Hermione, with 14,036 carcases, making a total of' 79,036 carcases for the -. week. The quality of Plate mutton now being offered 'is very satisfactory, and in consequence prices have been easily maintained 1. Australian Mutton. —The only arrival consists of 3535 carcases per Himalaya; the limited quantities received permit holders to maintain quotations at last rates. \. Frozen liambs. —Receipts during- the week are confined to 132 carcases from Australia. The demand for New Zealand lambs has been most disappointing; only light weights meet with any inquiry, and the extreme value of those is s|d per lb; medium and heavy weights are evry difficult to move and prices have a downward j tendency. Frozen Beef. —About 30,000 quarters have come to hand from South America. There has not been quite th 9 same active demand for frozen beef, but prices show very little change, and fores, if anything, have a slightly firmer tendency.
